Daily Prayer

I got this from a friend (thanks, Gretel) Dear Lord, So far today, I am doing all right. I have not gossiped, lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or self-indulgent. I have not whined, complained, cursed or eaten any chocolate. I have charged nothing on my credit card. But I will be getting out of bed in a minute, and I think that I will really need your help then.

30 years later...

Todd got out his bin of Legos and the girls were playing with them. He was looking at all of his kits and remembering how much he enjoyed them. Samantha wanted a kit put together, but Todd wasn't feeling up to it today (he has a cold). So I decided I could do it...I can follow directions. Well, I didn't factor in sorting through the thousands (and that isn't an overstatement) of lego pieces looking for parts that are smaller than a cheerio. Needless to say, it took me a little longer than I expected. I also had "help" from my three daughters. I finally completed it and it was my first official lego kit that I ever completed; and it was the first kit Todd ever completed as a child. So we took a picture to commemorate the event and wanted to share it.

Nutritional Value of Play Doh

Does anyone know if Play Doh meets any of the FDAs daily requirements for nutrition? The girls were playing with it today and Veronica was doing well, but twice I walked away and when I returned, she was chewing. Could make for some interesting diapers tomorrow.

Valerie's Money

So - last night we are watching TV and that commercial for how inexpensive a trip to Disney is comes on. Samantha and Valerie are glued to it watching. At the end of the commercial Valerie shouts out, "I wanna go there!" Todd asks, "Do you have $1600?" Valerie replies, "Yes!" I want to know where she got it and why didn't we know about it. Also - I checked it out...the great rate doesn't work for a family of five. Apparently their value-resorts are only for small families. Which doesn't make sense, because the more kids you have, the more you need to save money on lodging. Oh well - we'll figure it out. We'll be going in a few years anyhow. Guess we'll start saving now.

Out With Friends

Went out to dinner last night with good friends. It was a much needed night out. We laughed and just had a good time. As you can see by the pictures. We went to Buca diBeppo and sat at the Pope table and of course one of the hubbies couldn't resist having a little fun with the pontiff.

Sk8r Girls

Just wanted to give posting a photo a shot. This is the first time the girls were on skates. They did great. I didn't do too bad either - after not skating for 10 years. We were with the girls' sitter who is a figure skater and now in college. She has also taught skating so it was great that she went with us. She started sitting for us when Samantha was 9 months old. I really miss her. But we have another good one.

Literally

So, I forget that kids take you literally. The other night I was trying to brush Valerie's hair and put it in pigtails for swim lessons. I told her to turn around...and she did just that. She stood in front of me and did a complete 360. I just looked at her and Todd started laughing. I couldn't get mad because that is exactly what I told her to do. Oh well - I guess I'll learn.

Quiet Time

I now understand why some of my friends are night owls...it was so peaceful. I have been having troubles falling asleep - taking up to an hour many nights. So last night I was messing around on the computer and Todd went up to bed around 10:30. He turned off the TV and I was left in quiet. It was so nice. Not that I'm going to be staying up until midnight every night, but I just got to totally do my own thing, by myself and when I went to bed I was able to fall asleep quickly. I'm a little tired today, because I still had to get up at my normal time, but it was nice. I may actually take up reading again.

A Bit About the Ladies

Samantha the oldest is about to turn 6 (tomorrow). She is involved in Dasies, takes swimming lessons (can swim on her own) and has just started to learn to ice skate. She likes to draw, watch movies, play on the computer and play with her baby dolls. Valerie - the middle child is 3. She is about to start tumbling and would take skating too, but she isn't old enough yet. She likes to draw, watch movies, play dress up and play on the computer. She is in swimming and likes to go under water. Her favorite mealtime prayer is a compilation of some others - "Bless us o Lord, Food and Drink and thank you now. Amen" Veronica - the youngest is 17 months old. She can't talk yet, but she sure knows how to communicate. She just likes to keep up with her sisters and try to do whatever they do, which causes some issues, but also has resulted in a lot of laughter too.

I'm Off

Okay! We've been talking about doing this and finally off and running. I'm sure hubby has a different idea for doing this, but since I'm the one home and the one that most likely will do most of the sharing - decided to give this a shot.
